Hans Jürgen Stephan
He completed his law studies at the Leibniz University in Hannover, Germany, and the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Lisbon, Portugal.
His legal clerkship was at, among others, the Universität Sapienza and UNIDROIT in Rome, Italy.
Directly after receiving a degree, he joined the criminal police in the German state of Lower Saxony and later the German Federal Criminal Police. His latest role was heading the financial / terrorist financing investigative division at the latter institution.
His enthusiasm in investigative work, forensics, and the systematic and careful approach police wok requires remains with him to this day.
For many years, he headed Control Risks Deutschland GmbH, which involved leading the day-to-day business as well as consulting company boards, other managing directors and members of management in the fields of compliance and commercial crime. His duties as a lawyer are a direct consequence of this aspect.
He has been admitted to the Berlin bar since 2005.
Alongside his main duties, he lectured at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in the fields “Fraud Management” and “Compliance" as well as at the German Police University. He co-authored the handbook “Corporate Compliance” and the book "Formularbuch Compliance" (both published by CH Beck) as well as “Fraud Management” (Jackmuth/Lamboy/Zawilla).
Hans Jürgen Stephan is married and has two sons.
